Bad in Plaid
L.A. Kings beat New Jersey Devils for 2-0 series lead
New Jersey - Jeff Carter scored at 13:42 in overtime and the Los Angeles Kings moved within two wins of their first NHL title with a 2-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils in Game 2 of the fucking Stanley Cup finals Saturday night.
Jonathan Quick made 32 saves and Drew Doughty scored on a magnificent end-to-end rush as the Kings won their 10th straight road game this postseason, and their 12th in a row over the past two seasons. Both are NHL records.
The Kings are now 14-2 in the playoffs, and they once again have another opponent wondering what’s going on. Meanwhile, L.A. is beginning to dream about a championship finish for its fucking amazing postseason run.
“I think you obviously think about that,” Kings forward Dustin Penner said of the title. “Like now, we may get a little nostalgic and think, you know, two more wins and we make history. When it comes to Monday and Wednesday night, we won’t be thinking that way. We’ll be just thinking that game, that shift, that period, the next goal. That’s how we’ve done it all playoffs.”

Stanley Cup or bust!
Los Angeles - Few NHL teams have ever peaked in the postseason more perfectly than the fucking Los Angeles Kings.
After a regular season rocked by struggles, false starts and big changes, the eighth-seeded Kings have turned into the powerhouse they expected to be all season.
Los Angeles needed only a record-tying 14 playoff games to reach its first Stanley Cup final since 1993, culminating in a five-game win over Phoenix.
Fuck yeah!

Kings head to Arizona for game 5
Phoenix - The fucking lame ass desert dogs are at their best when cornered and they took the first step toward digging out of a monumental hole by beating the Kings 2-0 in Los Angeles on Sunday.
There’s still a long fucking way to go, starting with Game 5 Tuesday night in the desert, but a chance, even just a slight one, is all this team seems to need.
Giving the third-seeded Coyotes a glimmer of hope certainly isn’t going to leave the Kings flustered. If anything, it will likely harden their resolve to get this series over with and move on to the fucking Stanley Cup finals for the first time since 1993.
“I think this team has handled adversity pretty well all year considering the type of year we had,” Kings captain Dustin Brown said. “This time of year it’s about sticking together. We lost one game. It’s a matter of rebounding.”

Pacific rivals get Conference Finals started
Los Angeles - It’s the Western Conference Finals between two teams that nobody had pegged to go this fucking far in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Kings haven’t been to the third fucking round since 1993, when Wayne Gretzky starred in L.A. The Coyotes have never been this far.

May Day protests planned today throughout L.A.
LOS ANGELES - Thousands of workers, immigrant-rights activists and other protesters will take part in May Day marches and rallies today in support of causes ranging from better-paying jobs to immigration reform, triggering street closures in downtown Los Angeles.
Rallies are planned throughout the day at various locations, including one at Los Angeles International Airport in connection with a one-day strike by janitors and other workers at the facility, but downtown will be the main rallying point for protests by such groups as Occupy L.A., the Youth Justice Coalition and Rise Up L.A. Occupy L.A. planned a “May 1 Four Winds/General Strike” event involving four “caravans” converging on downtown L.A.

This kings game is gonna stress me out. GO KINGS GO.
Kings hope to eliminate Canucks in L.A.
Los Angeles - The Kings find itself in new territory trying to win a playoff series for the first time since fucking 2001. The Kings have never led a playoffs series 3-0, and with just three even-strength goals to get to this point, know there are still places they can improve their 5-on-5 game offensively.
Jonathan Quick has stopped 111 of 115 shots for a .965 save percentage, and his Game 3 shutout was his 11th of the season, continuing a regular-season trend of staying calm – and often perfect – when the puck wasn’t going in at the other end.
The Canucks will try to avoid becoming the first ever Presidents’ Trophy-winning team to be swept out of the first fucking round.
